Get Acquainted with them:

Mohammad A., Rama, and Mohammad O. are three young people who have an aspiring story that they went through in exceptional circumstances. They managed to get over difficulties and made the impossible; they positively influenced their affected community despite their young age. Before reading their stories, remember a rough ordeal that you encountered and how you withstood with the help of those who love to give. All of us have gone through adverse circumstances and needed help to get up and start again.

The Problem:

The Syrian crisis has deteriorated and become one of the largest disasters of the time entering its ninth year. With the considerably increasing humanitarian needs and the scarcity of health staff and service providers, the youth bears special burdens and faces enormous challenges while trying to combine the humanitarian duty towards their affected community, supporting their families and completing their education. In addition, the long interruption to continuing their education, and their ceaselessly provided efforts that drained them along with the consequent immense psychological stresses and the overwhelming responsibilities have made many of them to think of migrating, escaping their painful realities and taking the dangerous journey to Europe.

Therefore, the youth group has to be assisted, their problems has to be comprehended and the opportunity should be granted to them to allow them to gain new capabilities, develop themselves to better contribute to their affected communities, and obtain a higher education opportunity that would open new horizons for their futures. This would also help them to strengthen their self-confidence, grow their ambition, and play a part in improving the health situation inside Syria as well as reducing the migration of youth and qualified persons abroad.

SEMA has changed their lives

When Mohammad A, Rama, and Mohammad O obtained the opportunity to study in Shaam Academy for Medical Sciences, they found out that many young people experience the same suffering and that they were not alone. They also realized that their peers have the same dream and face the same challenge, they were aspiring to serve their society in such hard times.

Studies show that the youth who get an appropriate high education opportunity, which is linked to the needs and linked to reality, will improve their connection to their community and their affiliation to its causes; also, they will be more keen to give and help.

We seek through our work to build the capacity and skills of the youth in the field of health service provision to enable them to be pioneers and influence their affected communities as well as to participate in building a better health future for their nation and the world.

Who is SEMA and what are its achievements in Medical education and training?

In brief, we are a leading non-profit organization that stands out in the field of medical education and training in one of the riskiest disaster and crisis environments in the world. Many qualitative achievements were accomplished in besieged and high-risk areas. However, all of these achievements are not sufficient compared with the continuous needs and huge challenges. We need the help and the generosity of the philanthropists to continue giving and to build the skills of the youth and offer them certificates that would enable them to develop, and to achieve stability and sustainability.
