Together we can change the world through sport

Due to the increase amount of Syrian refugees in Gaziantep city, there is an increase need to focus on the children who are the most vulnerable and are exposed to increasing rate of school drop-outs, also children are least adaptable with the new society. The idea of the project is to provide several social and sport activities between the refugees’ children and the host ones to increase their social coexistence and integration. SEMA will determine specific activities carefully, which will be diverse from in-door activities to outdoor ones, and it will let the child to choose whatever activity is suitable for them. Such activities will focus on developing the child’s creativity and imagination. In other words, the children will focus on developing the emotional, social and mental life skills.

Campaign Goal:

Increase coexistence and social integration between the Syrian and Turkish people through a number of social and sport activities in order to increase the social strength and improve the physical and mental abilities of the children and to guide the talented children towards the right path in their lives.

In this project, SEMA would be reaching out to the real vulnerable children and families who have limited chance to have access to the social field activities or sport facilities in the host community.

Targeted category:

Children and Young people (aged 9 – 17)

Number of beneficiaries:

250 boys and girls from both Syrian and Turkish societies

Campaign’s activities:

  1. Outdoor activities (Football)
  2. Indoor activities (chess – Table tennis – movies)
  3. Several social activities (cooking- bazars- handmade exhibition)

SEMA Organization will be training children on playing football, chess, cinema, and tennis table since positive outcomes of play, and games for children and young people depend on the careful selection of activities with social and psychological aims where the child will have a sense of free choice. The activities aim at achieving social connection via strengthening coexistence between refugees and the host community focusing on brotherhood and sporty spirit which can be done without verbal mediation.

Sport activities involve creativity and imagination of the child in the sense that they develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills of life.

Campaign cost:

  • 12000 US Dollar for sport activities for 3 months
  • 6000 US Dollar for social activities
