In 2012, SEMA initiated a specialized department that has contributed to the establishment of a group of medical academies and vocational institutes and schools. SEMA has also conducted a large number of medical training courses and sessions that have had a great impact on the development of expert medical staff members, and enabled them to play their role in offering the best possible services to Syrians.

In 2012, SEMA initiated a specialized department that has contributed to the establishment of a group of medical academies and vocational institutes and schools. SEMA has also conducted a large number of medical training courses and sessions that have had a great impact on the development of expert medical staff members, and enabled them to play their role in offering the best possible services to Syrians.
The Medical Education and Training Department of SEMA is active in a number of programs, most notably: Continuous Medical Education – Vocational Medical Education and Training – Studies and Scientific Research – Non-formal Education for Women and youth.
The academies of health sciences are at the forefront of those projects since they have several departments (Paramedics – Nursing – Physiotherapy – Pharmacy – Prosthetics/Artificial Limbs). Since 2013, around 300 male and female students graduated from the academies, and many accreditations, partnerships and memberships with a group of leading international health academic institutions in the health education sector have been achieved.
Then comes the Continuous Medical Education Program, which offers online medical lectures and specialized online training packages under the supervision of a group of doctors from a high valued academic background around the world. The total number of continuous medical education hours offered since the beginning of 2019 is around 160 hours in 75 lectures, with the participation of 35 lecturers, and an average of 50 beneficiaries in every lecture.
Furthermore, the Department of Medical Education and Training has held a variety of specialized training courses inside Syria, where more than 2000 nursing and emergency medical services providers were trained within those training courses ranging from 1-3 months.
A special attention has been given to the economic empowerment of Syrian youth by providing the young people the ability to apply for suitable and decent job opportunities in various health professions, without neglecting the essential role of studies and research in providing effective health services.
Today, we are launching our campaign ‘EMPOWER ME TO SERVE’ in order to support medical education and training programs and projects in SEMA, and to realize the dreams of thousands of Syrian youth who are looking for educational opportunities that could enable them to live a decent life and serve their country later on. In addition to qualifying health services providers, building their capacities and raising the quality of their performance in different health specialties, thus, improve the level of health services provided in Northern Syria.
