Help in securing health care for children and elderly

While the Syrian Expatriate Medical Association (SEMA) was providing its Primary Health Care and medical services in camps and displacement centers, it encountered many humanitarian cases among which the case of “Um Rafat”, an old woman above 70, who narrates her story in the previous video.

It is not just the case of “Um Rafat”, but thousands of displaced people in camps in north of Syria experience tragic stories. Residing in a tent, those people are living a life that lacks the minimum necessities, dignity and healthy conditions. Most of them are children and elderly, who need special healthcare.

Residing in a tent, those people are living a life that lacks the minimum necessities, dignity and healthy conditions. Most of them are children and elderly, who need special healthcare.

Over the period of December 2019 – January 2020, there are more than 250,000 people who fled from death, because of the continuous bombardment that targeted their homes in southern and eastern rural Idleb and western rural Aleppo. Most of the displaced people are children, women, and elderly, and quite a number of them had eventually to stay at the displacement camps in north of Syria.

The Syrian Expatriate Medical Association (SEMA) has been working on covering the gaps in the medical services that are provided to the camps located in north of Syria. This is being achieved through its mobile clinics and community health and nutrition teams, as well as through the referral services to nearby hospitals, where treatment are provided to civilians for free to alleviate their suffering.

What is SEMA currently providing?

  • More than 8000 displaced persons benefit on monthly basis from the of the mobile clinic; most of them are children, women and elderly.
  • More than 15,000 displaced persons, mostly children, women and elderly, are served on monthly basis by the community health teams and nutrition services.
  • More than 50,000 displaced persons benefit from the medical services provided by SEMA’s hospitals located near the camps.

The needs are still enormous due to the daily increase in number of displaced people.

What is the objective of this campaign?

We aim at offering additional free-of-charge medical services to more than 10,000 displaced children and elderly, through providing Primacy Health Care, nutrition services, and medicine as well as providing treatments for those having chronic diseases.

Please join us in our efforts to serve them and provide healthcare by donating to our campaign: “Help in securing health care for children and elderly”
