Idleb, Syria

More than 100,000 people have been displaced from the city of Maarat al-Numan and its countryside in the Northern Syria … Contributed with us to provide URGENT medical relief to them.

While the world is preparing to celebrate the advent of the new year, people in Idleb city are encountering a systematic military campaign and devastating bombardment that is affecting civil residences and facilities as well as health centers. Every day witnesses the displacement of more than 3,000 people from the southern and eastern rural areas of Idleb.

With the accelerating events of the humanitarian catastrophe, number of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) increases as they are fleeing death and heading to the Turkish borders. Between the beginning of November and up to December, more than 215,000 people, most of them are women and children, have displaced to an unknown fate. With the absence of humanitarian and health assistance, caused by heavy airstrikes and bombardment, displaced people are now living without a shelter, food or health care, and are exposed to the cold weather.

The Syrian Expatriate Medical Association (SEMA) has activated its emergency system in all of its supported hospitals and health centers in Idleb, and has particularly mobilized its mobile clinics located where people escaping from shelling and destruction are residing. Additionally, SEMA has also facilitated its administrative procedures to timely respond to affected persons in the emergency.

SEMA places the world before its humanitarian responsibilities in saving people’s lives, and appeals to people of conscience and philanthropists to rapidly react and respond to this call through the campaign “Relief for Maarat An Noman” to help its people with emergency medical supplies. SEMA calls you to contribute to relieving the trauma of the people in Rural Idleb, who were forced to leave their homes escaping from shelling and death.

“Today at 24 December 2019, SEMA Response team  went to serve the areas where the newly displaced are. this picture took during their trip between Ma’arrat Misrin and Hazano. The trip took more than 1.5 hour driving for just 2 miles! Thousands of people fled in the last 5 days due to the military campaign in southern and eastern Idlib. People had nowhere to go. They are in shelters, mosques, and schools, on the street, under trees, and everywhere with no supplies nor food. It is so cold there, what are these kids going to do!? It is hell over here….”

Our rapid response team reached out to where the most recently displaced people are. The word does not describe how devastating the situation is. People gathered together in shelters, camps, or even under trees without any basic life needs. The kids are packed in shelters together. It is a real tragedy …

Allah Almighty said: ‘And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward’.
